Regarding the few existing prospective studies, in the Penn State Sleep Cohort obesity at baseline showed a marginally significant 47% increased odds of incident chronic insomnia over a 7.5-year follow-up after controlling for sociodemographic and behavioral factors, but this association attenuated and was no longer significant in fully-adjusted analysis including comorbidities 36 .
