Recent reports demonstrate that novel and highly significant breakthroughs in the fields of disease diagnosis, treatment, and biomarkers based on miRNAs have been established, starting a new in-depth study of miRNAs. miRNAs are generally 20~25 nucleotides in length and combine with the target gene at the 3' untranslated region (UTR) by complete and/or partial complementarity, thereby regulating gene expression. miRNAs can also directly cut or degrade the target gene messenger RNA (mRNA) and inhibit the translation of the mRNA.
