found highly significant positive correlation between individual tissue-specific segregation and mtDNA genetic distance in specific heteroplasmic mice generated using wild mice in Europe and C57BL/6N, where the wild mice display a spectrum of genetic distance (18, 86, 107, and 416 SNP differences at mtDNA) with C57BL/6N ( Burgstaller et al., 2014a ).
