Although the risk is deemed low, the use of milk thistle extracts ( Silybum marianum ) with CYP2C8, 2C9, 2C19, 2D6 and 3A4 substrates is best avoided as a measure of caution, as studies remain insufficiently conclusive about whether there might be significant CYP inhibition on a clinical level with the use of this CM 45 – 47 .
