A meta-analysis of the cross-sectional and prospective studies, published in 2016, showed that in the cross-sectional setting significant relationships were found between levels of dioxins, PCBs, organochloride pesticides and BPA and prevalent diabetes, while the relationship for phthalates was of borderline significance [ 3 ].
