The findings from a multicenter, randomized controlled trial (RCT) that compared standard and extended lymphadenectomies during PD[ 13 ], showed that while there was no difference between standard and extended lymphadenectomy regarding survival, there was a possible trend towards longer survival for node-positive patients who underwent extended lymphadenectomies; these findings concurred with those from several retrospective studies.
