In the analysis restricted to men (nine studies, 141,709 participants/24,230 events), the lowest risk was between 31 and 35 kg/m 2 , with an increased risk for values lower than 31 kg/m 2 and a slightly non-significant increase for values higher than 35 kg/m 2 ( p value for no exposure–disease association 0.0034; p value for nonlinearity 0.001).
