Outcomes Overall, the pooled risk estimate for both ischaemic stroke and composite effectiveness outcomes were of borderline significance (ischaemic stroke: seven studies, 0.86 (95% CI 0.75–0.99), Figure 2 ; composite effectiveness outcomes: nine studies, 0.93 (95% CI 0.85–1.01), Figure 3 ) between DOACs and VKA.
