Nevertheless, retrospective review of blood cultures over a four-year period (2010–2013) from NICU and the infant unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, which is Ghana’s premier referral hospital, indicate an increasing trend in candidemia from 0% in 2010 to 3.3% in 2013 [ 82 ], which is similar to the results of a similar study among cancer patients in the same hospital [ 83 ].
