There is an increasing trend in the prevalence of MetS in India, both in the urban and rural population, ranging from 11% to 41%.[ 7 ] There are differences in the prevalence of MetS between studies from different parts of India, which can be due to different criteria, inclusion of different age groups, and different rates of prevalence of individual components of the MetS.
