In contrast, condensing agents such as the highly cationic TriplatinNC are capable of compacting and precipitating DNA that is indicated by a decreasing trend in viscosity relative to titrated complex ( Fig. 7 ). 35 Cisplatin is also known to reduce viscosity since upon covalent binding it kinks the backbone which shortens the axis length of the DNA helix, thereby decreasing the relative viscosity.
