It has been suggested that Manx shearwaters shift to shallower water at nighttime (Guilford et al., 2008 ), whereas we found the opposite pattern in Hutton's shearwaters although the pattern was marginally nonsignificant and we observed a high degree of variation in water depths at rafting sites.
