When the true uninterrupted CAG length rather than the mis-estimated length was used, the GWAS signal was greatly reduced to the border of significance for rs764154313 (p = 5.0E-8) and below genome-wide significance for rs183415333 (p = 2.2E-5; Figure 2 A), indicating that the original highly significant chr 4 GWAS signals were artifacts of mis-estimated expected age at onset due to mis-estimation of the true uninterrupted CAG repeat length.
