Recently, a GWAS study in a layer Chinese F2 population using a high density SNP array (600 K Axiom Chicken Genotyping Array) [ 27 ] used the exact mixed model approach in the GEMMA package [ 28 ] and identified 23 highly significant SNPs associated with the weights of heart, liver, proventriculus and gizzard.
