Stratified by school gender ( Table 5 ), secrecy plays little role in friendship formation in coeducational schools, there is a nonsignificant trend toward homophily among secretive pupils in girls-only schools, and a strong tendency toward homophily among moderate and high-secrecy pupils in boys-only schools.
