It turns out that the correlation of Δ MI with any of these individual parameters is relatively weak, but in some cases highly significant: As expected, there is a significant positive correlation ( r = 0.08, p = 8.5 · 10 −6 ) between Δ MI and the total number of excitatory connections in a motif.
