The temporal variation of each NANI component is shown in S1 Fig , indicating an increasing trend of fertilizer N application, atmospheric N deposition, and net food and feed N import during 1986 to 2015 (Pearson correlation test, R 2 = 0.990, 0.953, 0.831, p <0.05), although there was a slight fluctuation in some years.
