Homoplastically, heightened severity of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) was investigated in the absence of PXR, while the secondary bile acid lithocholic acid (LCA), an agonist for PXR, could activate PXR to negatively regulate TLR4, attenuating NEC in murine intestine, suggesting promotion of PXR-dependent preventive approach might be significant for intestinal inflammation and its subsequent disease 80 .
