In a cross-sectional, population-based study in the United States, it has been demonstrated that, compared with adult AD (18–59 years), clinical manifestations of elderly AD (≥ 60 years) were associated with a significantly lower incidence of active lesions on the face and scalp, marginally significant lower incidence of flexural (including elbow and knee folds) lesions, and significantly higher incidence of lesions on the buttocks or genitals [ 10 ].
