(4) N 2 O - N ng / L = 374 e 0.003 NO 3 - N μ g / L Using Equation ( 4 ), the modeled N 2 O concentrations for independent nitrate‐nitrite dataset of 874 randomly selected Finnish NLS lakes reproduced similar median N 2 O concentrations and an increasing trend by lake size further indicating that our lake dataset is representative to Finnish conditions and can be expected to represent lakes over larger boreal landscape (Figure 11 ).
