4 In Iran, unlike developed countries, death from CVD shows an increasing trend, probably because the advanced therapeutic methods have increased the patient’s life expectancy, however, the first occurrence of the disease is associated with high mortality. 5 Hypertension, diabetes, obesity, tobacco smoking, and high serum cholesterol are among the major risk factors for CVDs, which, together with socioeconomic factors and people’s lifestyle (physical inactivity, poor diet, etc), have a synergistic effect on the disease incidence.
