Although symptomatic PTSD occurred more frequently in the SARS unit nurses (33%) than non-SARS unit nurses (18.7%), its prevalence rate in regular SARS unit (29.5%) and Neurology unit (26.7%) nurses was equal, implying that the psychological impact of the SARS outbreak on the latter (even though not working with SARS patients) might be significant.
