At the provincial level, it can be inferred from Fig 5 , during the sample period, except for Shanghai and Zhejiang with the optimal efficiency, green water use inefficiency in most other regions exhibited an increasing trend, only Jiangsu and Jiangxi displayed a decreasing trend.
