In this study, the kinetics observed in infants examined upon admission and at discharge from the hospital allowed the correct interpretation of findings observed both in infants examined only upon admission (high viral load indicated per se hRSV etiology even in the absence of a decreasing trend) and in those admitted late (with respect to hRSV infection) to hospital with a low hRSV load rapidly declining.
