Precipitation showed negative trends in 60% of the studied area (-1.6 to -3.2 dams km -2 in arid areas with <475 mm yr -1 and ~3.5 dams km -2 in humid areas with >880 mm yr -1 ) and a positive trend between 474 and 880 mm year -1 (40% of the area).
