Although the prevalence of total diabetes continues to be higher in urban than in rural areas, without a significant difference, the gap showed a decreasing trend compared with previous data. 11 12 13 Compared with the national study conducted in 2013, the current prevalence of diabetes increased by 1% in urban areas but by 2.5% in rural areas under the same ADA diagnostic criteria.
