In respect of obesity, whether in general or specifically central obesity (waist circumference) these were related to both hypertension and diabetes status in men and women (with the exception of hypertension in women when sedentary behaviour was included as a covariate where it only attained borderline significance.) The strength of the relationship varied between the two genders – appearing broadly stronger in men than women.
