Some authors have found that milk fat has an increasing trend when a higher amount of concentrate is given to the cow (70% vs. 50% DM) [ 52 , 53 ], but this effect depends heavily on the composition of the concentrate, which is related to changes in the ratio of acetate to propionate in the rumen [ 54 ].
