In the first place, the dynamism of the tear film is the factor supporting SARS-CoV-2 to pass from the infected ocular surface to the respiratory and digestive tract through the lacrimal canaliculi (that drain tears from the eye surface into the nasal cavity), regardless of a more or less significant presence of ACE2 receptors on the cornea and conjunctiva [ 17 , 18 ].
