Recently, in a large REDUCED-IT trial ( n = 8179), authors demonstrated that the administration of icosapent ethyl, 4 g daily in patients at elevated risk for cardiovascular disease who have increased baseline TG, but well-controlled LDL-C levels, have highly significant clinical benefit and reduced incident events, including cardiovascular death over and above statin therapy [ 19 ].
