We observed a marginally significant 2% decreased PD risk after an appendectomy after adjusting for sex and birth year matching pairs ( Table 2 , model 1), and 16% decreased PD risk (HR = 0.84, 95% CI = 0.80–0.88) when additionally adjusted for country of birth, highest achieved education, COPD, comorbidity index, and number of hospital visits ( Table 2 , model 2).
