In accordance with the functional data, we found a highly significant reduction of the number of TH-immunoreactive amacrine cells two months post-injection evaluated with whole mount slices (Fig. 4b–d ) and in vertical retinal slices (Supplementary Fig. 2a,b ), which further progresses at a later time point (Supplementary Fig. 2a,b ).
