Discussion In our study, there was an increasing trend in the proportion of individuals with STEMI (74.0%) with respect to previous reports by RENASICA I (35.0%), RENASICA II (56.0%), and RENASICA III (51.3%); one possible reason of this trend, according to García in RENASICA II, is the more accessible access to mechanical reperfusion and a rise in the association of STEMI with the overall prevalence of other comorbidities, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) [ 7 ].
