Finally, the extrapolated daily precession of the Foucault pendulum due to Earth's rotation against latitude (penultimate column of table 1 ) is shown graphically in figure 11 . This initial theoretical investigation confirms that the mathematical model of equations (2.1) through to (2.4) provides predictions of the dynamic performance of the Foucault pendulum consistent with expectations, for various locations, and also shows that the effect of parametric excitation, in the form of length modulation, is highly significant, leading to greatly enhanced response amplitude.
