Induction with STZ resulted in confirmed diabetes condition compared with normal rats marked by the increase of blood glucose (BG) level over 150 to 300 mg/dl as the hyperglycemia standard of diabetes condition shown in Table 1 . Result of paired t -test showed no significant difference of BG level in normal group (K0) but there were markedly significant differences in periodontitis-induced groups (K1 and K2).
