To another it might be significant that it is the nurse, Walton, and not Victor, who witnesses and articulates this paradox, reminding us that an ethics of caring and speaking-with is by no means the exclusive province of physicians, and in fact has been developed most fully and profoundly in the nursing literature (Lachman 2012 ).
