Conclusion Despite an increasing trend toward primary vitrectomy for RRD, scleral buckling procedure showed high structural and visual success rates, improvement of visual acuity was found to correlate well with the shorter duration of macular detachment and the status of the lens with a better outcome in phakic eyes more than aphakic and pseudophakic eyes.
