For the gradient of developing leaf, an increasing trend of sucrose content was found in S. officinarum and S. spontaneum as the leaves became into mature (Fig. 6 a), while a generally decreasing trend of F-6-P content was found in the two species, indicating SPS performed the same functions during the sucrose synthesis in the two varieties.
