Our results suggested that intensive media exposure to news about COVID-19 was detrimental for mental health, as the prevalence of the four mental health problems surveyed was significantly higher among those who spent at least 4 hours a day (and about 8 hours on average) looking for information about COVID-19, and these associations remained highly significant after adjustment for other covariates.
