10 - 13 Fukuda et al analyzed the role of sarcopenia in 41 SPK recipients and reported a nonsignificant trend associating low psoas muscle mass index (PMI) and pancreas graft survival. 6 They did, however, demonstrate a significant association between skeletal muscle quality (an alternative measure of sarcopenia) and both pancreas graft survival and postoperative complications.
