However, not all studies available to date appear to support the relevance of early diagnosis: an analysis of 52 patients from the European Registry and Network for Intoxication Type Metabolic Diseases (E-IMD) showed a statistical trend for normal development in patients diagnosed by NBS as compared with patients who were diagnosed after the onset of symptoms.
