Sepsis which is defined as a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection is increasingly becoming a major health-care problem affecting millions of people each year worldwide.[ 1 ] The incidence has shown an increasing trend over the last few decades and more than two-thirds of patients with sepsis die during their hospital stay only.
