There is an apparent trend whereby the STF pyrophosphatase mutations that most strongly suppress CTD-T4A with respect to Pho1 activity (Figure 1B ) have more severe effects on vegetative growth in the CTD-WT background (Figures 3 and 4A ) than do ‘second-round’ STF mutations that are relatively weaker T4A suppressors (Figure 8A and C ).
