The bias to publish papers with large effect sizes in small sample sizes has been well-documented ( Ioannidis, 1998 ; Sterne et al., 2000 ), including one study that observed a highly significant negative correlation between sample size and effect size in more than 1,000 psychological studies ( Kühberger et al., 2014 ).
