These results are in agreement with what has been reported by many authors, according to whom myocardial necrosis and focal myocardial fibrosis, are highly significant alterations in the hearts of athletes who abuse AAS and may be responsible for atrioventricular conduction abnormalities and provide a substrate for the occurrence of potentially lethal arrhythmias and SCD [ 40 , 71 , 72 , 73 ].
