25 Moreover, similar to the results of the present study in which the outbreak had a detrimental effect on moods of most pregnant mothers, a cohort study in China had found an increasing trend in the prevalence of perinatal depression following the current outbreak. 28 According to these findings, pregnant mothers were suffering from the mental burden of the COVID-19 pandemic because they would have been concerned about their own health status and that of their newborns.
