Climate stress resistance in male Queensland fruit fly varies among populations of diverse geographic origins and changes during domestication.

The resistance differences were largely due to the relatively long knockdown times (i.e., higher resistances) of the Darwin, Alice Springs and Sydney populations (on average, 32% longer than those of the other populations). Regressing the median knockdown time against the five key weather variables yielded one significant association, a positive association with the minimum temperature of the coldest month, and this was marginally significant ( t 10 = 2.26, P = 0.047).
