The viral load obtained by real-time RT-PCR examination showed a decreasing trend during favipiravir treatment, but a transient fever, malaise, dyspnea, and tachypnea on exertion were observed on day 11, the day after the end of treatment, and a transient rise in viral load was observed at the same time ( Fig. 2 ).
