A study by Wright et al revealed that lower levels of DPPC were observed in BAL with a decreasing trend among more severe asthma subjects. 22 In the present study, while the DPPC levels were reduced in asthma (Coef −1.11 wt%, CI: −2.81 to 0.57, compared with healthy subjects), the non-significant results were probably caused by small sample size and, subjects with rather mild and well-controlled asthma.
