A study on optimization of the yield and utility of circulating cell-free DNA showed that time from blood sampling to plasma separation was extremely significant, whereas the temperature of the blood sample before plasma separation (kept on ice or at room temperature) did not affect the amount of cell-free DNA significantly [ 104 ].
